CHECK 21 Details:
The ANSI standards group which is comprised of banks, check printers, and the Federal Reserve has agreed on some major changes for checks. It's purpose is to make the processing of checks work better for all of us. This legislation takes effect on October 28, 2004.
Checks do not have to be ordered through the bank to be Check 21 compliant. Design guidelines have been established and are readily available to all check printers. Our suppliers are aware of the guildelines and are already compliant.
The Act allows any bank to create a "substitute" check from a digital image that will serve as the legal equivalent of the original paper check.
The digital image - rather than the actual check - will travel through the payment stream electronically.
Give us a call if you are concerned about your checks or information you have received from your bank.
